Guidance notes
Here are some written instructions on how add maps to your site. Google maps can be added to the CMS in two ways, in the WYSIWYG editor (for more recent website) and also the Google map embed block. There is a video guide at the bottom of this page which shows how to use the map block.
You can expand the screenshots by clicking on them. Tips are given in italics.
These notes assume you are already logged into the CMS.
-
Adding maps using the WYSIWYG editor
- Click on ‘Edit Mode’ in the top left of the toolbar
- Either edit or add a content or accordion block (see previous guides)
- Click on the google map icon in the WYSIWG editor menu
- Add an address into the 'Location' field
You can enter any location which is recognised by Google, this could include a building name. To test this, find the location in Google Maps and replicate the address used. You can pinpoint a specific location by clicking on the map, opening the pin and then going to "Copy address" or "Copy Plus Code". The Plus Code can also be used in the Google map block and the WYSIWYG editor.
- Select the size using the 'Size' drop down - for example - using 75% or 50% will usually look better than full width
- You can also choose to wrap text around the map clicking 'Left', 'Centre' or 'Right' underneath 'Align'
- Press OK
- Check you are happy with the placement of the map, then 'Save' the block
