Background

Kent and Medway Local Maternity System (LMS) is a partnership of everyone involved in maternity and neonatal care, Maternity Voices Partnerships and service users who are working together to transform local maternity services. The partnership wanted their own website to represent the services across the region and also to support parents in making informed choices about their maternity care.

Scoping

Frank supported the LMS programme team (within Kent and Medway CCG) to work closely with local families, midwives, health visitors, MVP chairs and partner organisations in the co-production of the Bump, Birth and Beyond website.

Frank held a scoping session with women who had recently given birth and have a variety of lived experiences to discuss design, content and user navigation. Their requirements were to have access to easy to understand, concise and relevant information with an engaging design with a distinct branding (as opposed to the NHS core brand).

Project

The website was designed and delivered within a few months. The objective of the website is to inform mothers of the best options available to them within the region and to give them a personalised maternity service. The LMS team produced bespoke content reflecting the needs of the users and collated some realistic imagery to complement the attractive design.

The site includes an interactive map where users can find services by location and type. It also includes a page where information can be filtered by “for baby” and “for mum”.  Frank are also working with the team to develop a birth choices tool where users will answer questions to help them better understand their birth preferences.
