Frank has installed the Mult Factor Authentication (MFA, also known as 2FA) package on your CMS, this means that you need to use more than one method to authenticate that you have access to this website.

Setting up MFA

Our MFA uses a mobile app to provide this authentication which you will need to download.  This first time you log into the site you will need to set up the app to be able to authenticate you to the specific website you are trying to access.

1. Install an authenticator on your phone or tablet:

You can choose from a number of authenticator apps, for example:

2. Return to the login page for your website

  • Log in to your website using your email address and password
  • You will now be prompted to set up MFA
  • Type a word in the 'description' field.  This can be anything, for example, 'authenticate' or the name of your website or account.  This will distinguish this account if you have more than one log in for this website.
  • Click the button which says 'Create New Secret Key'.  You will now see a code in the 'Secret Key' field and a QR code will be revealed underneath.

3. Go to your authenticator app

  • Click the plus button in the authenticator app to add a new account (Google – bottom right, Microsoft top right)
  • In the Google app you will be taken straight to the QR code reader screen
  • In Microsoft you need to select the type of account, which is "Other", then tap "Scan QR code"

  • Return to the webpage and type this code into the box that says "Code verification"

  • Click the blue 'submit button'

  • 2FA is now set up for your account and you are logged in

4. Subsequent logins in to your website

  • When you next log in to the CMS you will need the authenticator app on your phone open

  • After you have logged in with your email and password, a screen like this will appear
