Here are some written instructions on how to create 'alias' pages on your site. Alias pages are like 'live' copies, except they can't be edited independently - changes made to the initial page (the master) will always be copied to the alias page. To users, it will look like a completely independent page.

For example you could have the following:

  • About us / Our performance
  • Working for us / Our performance

The benefit of using an alias page is that it enables users to stay within a section (as opposed to using a redirect) without having to maintain the same content in two places.

Note: You can only alias single pages - you can't alias an entire section and the subpages, because aliases can't have child pages.

You can expand the screenshots by clicking on them. Tips are given in italics.

These notes assume you are already logged into the CMS.

Creating an alias

  • Go to the 'Sitemap' in the Dashboard
  • Locate the page you want to create an alias of, and make sure that you can click and drag it
  • Expand the sections where you want your alias page to be
  • Click and drag the page you want to alias into the section where you want it to be (e.g. onto the parent page where you want the alias to reside underneath)
  • After letting go of the left mouse button, a popup will show.  Make sure that 'Alias' is selected and press 'Go' at the bottom. The page will immediately be aliased.

Editing an alias

  • To edit an alias page, you must edit the master version of the page. All changes will be made to the alias automatically when the master page is published
  • If you try to visit and edit an alias page, it will direct you towards editing the master page
