A quick rundown
Bexley Teen Health has been created by Bromley Healthcare, a local healthcare provider that runs young people’s public health services in Bexley and Bromley. The Teen Health website is a signposting tool designed to connect young people with trusted local and national resources.
Our solution
In a post-pandemic world of remote work and virtual meetings, developing a solution for the Bexley Teen Health website was a breath of fresh air for us here at Frank - especially because it involved genuine in-person collaboration with the Bexley team, allowing for richer discussions and a more hands-on creative process.
Alongside the team at Bromley Healthcare, Siobhan and Ben from our design team came up with a unique and collaborative approach that would involve young people in the design and development of a bespoke website, tailored to the specific needs of young people in the region.
Having pre-prepared a suite of different design languages, typefaces and website features for discussion with the group, we travelled down to Bexley for in-person engagement sessions at a school in Bexley.
The sessions began with the class writing down what they believed were the most important health topics to include on a healthcare website for young people. They were then presented with four different homepage designs, including font pairings, colour palettes, and visual language styles, and were asked to vote for their favourite and share what they liked or disliked about each option.
We concluded the sessions by asking the class to create their own 'Frankenstein' mockups - homepage layouts assembled from their favourite elements across the different designs. Each selected element represented their top choice in style and layout among similar options.
Frank compiled this feedback, along with insights from the client’s earlier scoping work, into a comprehensive summary report. Using this as a foundation, we collaborated with the Bexley team to develop an engaging website filled with tips for staying healthy, advice on relationships, and information about local services for young people.
